Prove you checked every vendor, with evidence your auditor can verify.
For nonprofits, universities, local governments and tribes spending federal awards. Check vendors and subrecipients against SAM.gov exclusions, one of the ways to verify under 2 CFR 180.300, and keep a dated record your auditor can confirm without logging in.
- Every check is a dated, fingerprinted record with a public verification page
- On the paid plan, your whole vendor list is rechecked every day, with an email if a vendor is newly excluded
- Searches the official daily SAM.gov extract: 169,026 active exclusion records What’s counted?
Check a vendor

How it works
Upload your vendor list once. We check it now, and on the paid plan every day after that and whenever you add a vendor. No template, no clean-up, no setup project.
Upload your vendor list as it is
Drop in a QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or Excel export. We find the vendor names, tidy them up, remove tax IDs, and show you every change.
We check it every day Paid plan
Each vendor is matched against the official SAM.gov extract by UEI, legal name, dba names and agency-listed aliases. If one is newly excluded, you get an email. Every vendor also gets fresh evidence each month.
We chase the missing UEIs Paid plan
A name alone can leave a match uncertain. With your approval, we email those vendors for their UEI and recheck each one when it replies.
Hand your auditor the proof
Every check, and every decision your team makes on a possible match, is a dated record with a fingerprint and a public verification link.
Evidence your auditor can verify without logging in
A screenshot of a SAM.gov search shows a result, not when the search happened or what was searched. Each record here captures what was searched, the time, the SAM.gov extract date and file fingerprint, and the result. Records are chained together, so none can be edited or quietly backdated.
- A public verification page your auditor opens with the check ID. No account, no login
- PDF for your audit file, plus the raw record as JSON
- Decisions on possible matches are recorded too, with the reviewer’s note
- On the paid plan, a one-click audit binder for the whole year
Example
No active exclusion records found
Searched for “Acme Medical Supply, Inc.” (UEI on file, Ohio) in SAM.gov exclusion data. This documents a search; it is not a determination of eligibility.

Check vendors from Claude, before you approve the PO
Clean Vendor Check works inside Claude and other AI assistants. Say “check the 40 vendors in my AP export and give me the audit file”, or “check this vendor before I approve the PO”, and it runs the checks and hands back the evidence.
If your assistant is also connected to QuickBooks or Xero, it can pull the vendor list itself. There's nothing to integrate.
Add it as a connector

Questions finance teams ask
Which transactions need a check?
Under 2 CFR 180.300 you must confirm a party isn't excluded before entering a covered transaction. That includes procurement contracts at or above the threshold in 2 CFR 180.220 (confirm the current amount for your award) and all subawards, whatever the amount. You can check SAM.gov, collect a certification, or add a contract clause. A documented SAM.gov check is what auditors most expect to see.
What will my auditor want to see?
Evidence the check happened before you committed funds: what was searched, when, against which data, and the result. Each evidence PDF records the inputs, the time in UTC, the SAM.gov extract date and file fingerprint, and a link the auditor can use to confirm the record hasn't been changed.
How often should we check again?
When you onboard a vendor, before each new award or contract, and periodically while you keep paying them, because exclusions can happen mid-year. Monitoring, on the paid plan, rechecks your whole list every day and saves fresh evidence for each vendor every month.
Who is Clean Vendor Check for?
Organizations that spend federal grant money and are audited for it: nonprofits, colleges and universities, local governments, tribes and other pass-through entities. It covers the suspension and debarment check that Single Audits test under 2 CFR 180.300 and 200.214, for vendors and for subrecipients.
Why not just search SAM.gov ourselves?
You can, and it’s free. But a manual search leaves you with a screenshot at best: nothing proves when you searched, what you searched for, or which data you searched. You also have to repeat it for every vendor whenever exclusions change. Clean Vendor Check keeps a dated, verifiable record of every check, and on the paid plan does the daily rechecks for you.
What does “169,026 active exclusion records” count?
Every active record in SAM.gov’s exclusions extract: firms, individuals, vessels and entities listed under sanctions programs. One party can have several records, for example when more than one agency excludes it, so sites that count unique parties show a smaller number. Your vendors are checked against all of them.
Does “no match” mean the vendor is cleared?
No. It means no active exclusion record was found in SAM.gov data as of the stated date. It's evidence of a careful search, not a legal decision. A name-only search can return possible matches that a person needs to review; adding the vendor's UEI makes the result definite.
